Kokugakuin University, founded in 1882 as a research and educational institution for Japanese studies and Shintoism, is one of the oldest private universities in Japan.
By developing learning that deepens the understanding of Japan and the world from the standpoint of each academic field, we aim to develop truly global human resources who can communicate Japan to the world.

● Learn Japanese culture
Over the more than 140 years since its founding, classes are being developed that make use of the achievements of Japanese studies and academic traditions that the university has accumulated. In the "Japan Studies" course, which can be taken by any faculty or department, students with various cultural backgrounds gather to hold discussions and presentations on the themes of Japanese culture, society, and history. You can discover one side of Japan.
In addition, there are plenty of opportunities to experience traditional Japanese culture, such as “Kimono DAY,” where you can spend the entire day on campus wearing a yukata.

●Complete career support system
Specialized departments such as the Career Support Section and the Tama Plaza Administrative Section provide employment support with an emphasis on real-world experience, according to the desired career path of each student.
“Experience events by industry” where you can actually visit work sites and learn about the atmosphere of each company in the industry.・You can meet a satisfying career through events such as “Corporate Seminars” where company explanations are held.

● Shibuya Campus
The Shibuya Campus, which is the main campus for the Faculty of Letters, Faculty of Shinto Culture, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Economics, is located in a quiet area despite being in the center of the city.
The campus is equipped with the latest facilities to stimulate intellectual curiosity, such as a library that boasts a collection of about 1.6 million books and a museum that holds valuable historical materials.

● Yokohama Tamaplaza Campus
Yokohama Tama-Plaza Campus, the main campus of the Faculty of Tourism and Community Development, has classrooms, seminar rooms, lounges and studios that can be used for group work. .
